AIRLINES

Madison is served by the Dane County Regional Airport (MSN), approximately 9 km northeast from the convention center. The major airline carriers into Madison are American Eagle, Continental Express, Delta, Midwest Connect and United Express. The primary international airports in the U.S. with direct flights to Madison are Chicago O’Hare, Minneapolis, Detroit, St. Louis, Atlanta and New York La Guardia.

The conference hotels provide free shuttle service to and from Dane County Regional Airport. Please check the hotel websites or call the hotels for the latest information on using this service. All three hotels can be reached by courtesy phones located between baggage claim areas 1 and 2.

Major car rental agencies are located within the airport terminal across from the baggage claim area. Taxis are also available through the doorway at the end of the terminal beyond the baggage claim area. City bus service is available outside the baggage claim area. See below for more information.

For those flying to Chicago O’Hare, bus service (Coach USA/Van Galder; www.coachusa.com/vangalder/) may be more economical and is available from the Bus/Shuttle Center (adjacent to Terminal 2) to Madison. It is approximately a 3-hour trip. Passengers arrive at the Memorial Union on the University of Wisconsin campus and will need to call a taxi to get to the conference hotels.

BUS SERVICE

Metro Transit (www.cityofmadison.com/metro/) is the City of Madison bus system. Cash fare is $2.00, and exact change is required. Route number 20 serves the Dane County Regional Airport with buses every half hour until evening and then once an hour. To get to the hotels, take the 20 bus to the North Transfer Point, ask for a transfer on boarding the bus, and at the North Transfer Point board a number 2 bus that goes to the Capitol Square, where the hotels are located. Total trip time is approximately 30 minutes.

Note: Buses are not equipped to handle significant amounts of luggage, being primarily for passenger travel around the city. Buses, however, are handicap accessible.

From the Capitol Square, it is possible to travel by bus to various parts of the city, including major attractions and shopping areas. The website allows one to find the best routes to different places. A full set of schedules is available on the website, and printed schedules are available on buses. If you plan to take more than two rides in a day, a one-day unlimited ride pass ($4.50) can be purchased on buses.
